My apartment manager finally put in the A/C but didn't give me the proper 24hr notice (on top of that the letter which just came today said it will be put in June 2nd) and on top of it they left the outside cover over the sleeve hole (outside) and they left my door open (screen door) which was right beside the AC sleeve .. wtf .. Serbians .. DOH!!!!!!

Don't they legally have to give you 24 hr notice? Yet people tell me when I was worried before that they might one day come in without proper notice that they can't do that and I was worried for nothing because they can't .. well they did! 

Well .. anyway .. the A/C is remote control and finally in. Wasn't in the 2 days it was scorching hot but today is cooler and I come home and it is in. So finally I have one again. Just wish they gave me notice as I don't like them entering my place without me KNOWING! What if I was naked? lol  thumbs down  Roll Eyes

Well, since your in Canada and live in geared to income housing, I really don't know the laws there so I can't say for sure.  But there should be some sort of notice before they can conduct any maintenance on anyones living quarters.  And a tenant should be available before they can even gain entry.  Unless it's an emergency.  It's call the privacy act and you should check you tenants guidelines manual and local laws concerning this.

canadian law is 48h notice, signed approval by tenant etc. Also, u can legally ask for ur key back kt. theill prolly make a copy but still Cheesy

(u can also legally change the tumbler in ur locks without their approval, but this can be contradicted in ur rental agreement or building notarized rules.)

This is what I found on Canadian law concering the tenant / landlord act in Onterio.

Entry without written notice

A landlord can enter a tenant’s rental unit without written notice if:

•there is an emergency such as a fire,
•the tenant agrees to let the landlord in,
•a care home tenant has agreed in writing that the landlord can come in to check on their condition at regular intervals.
A landlord can enter a rental unit without written notice, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. if:

•the rental agreement requires the landlord to clean the unit – unless the agreement allows different hours for cleaning,
•the landlord or tenant has given a notice of termination, or they have an agreement to end the tenancy, and the landlord wants to show the unit to a potential new tenant (in this case, although notice is not required, the landlord must try to tell the tenant before entering for this reason).
Entry with 24 hours written notice

A landlord can enter the rental unit between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., and only if they have given the tenant 24 hours written notice:

•to make repairs or do work in the unit,
•to carry out an inspection, where reasonable, in order to determine whether repairs are needed,
•to allow a potential mortgagee or insurer of the complex to view the unit,
•to allow a potential purchaser to view the rental unit (note: the Act also allows a registered real estate agent or broker to enter for this purpose if they have written authorization from the landlord),
•to allow an engineer, architect or other similar professional to make an inspection for a proposed conversion under the Condominium Act; or
•for any reasonable purpose allowed by the rental agreement.
The notice must include the reason why the landlord wants to enter the rental unit and must state what time, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., the landlord will enter the unit. If the landlord gives the tenant the correct notice, the landlord can enter even if the tenant is not at home.

Yeah Sandman you are right and GMC made me laugh as I already know that joke and think it is funny. Tongue

The thing is I am trying to understand her as she is a foreigner and my mom says that since I wasn't born in Europe like her that I just don't understand but she does since she was (came over on the boat years before I was born though). So I am trying to understand as I did say I already had the AC taken out and was hot and the TV unit was moved out of the way. But the letter I got (thought it said June 2nd but it says June 1st (Tuesday) but either way .. no where on the letter did it say anything before June 1st) said it would be "Delivered and Installed on June 1st". I was at work when she put the letter in my mail box and I come home from work and the A/C is in. She is so nosey and picky that I wish I would have known. No damage done .. it is just that I have become fearful of them coming in when I am naked or something because they knock and open the door seconds later like they have all right but usually I knew when to expect them! This time no warning, and no phone call and letter is wrong! So yeah .. that is why it upsets me. Then the stupidity of not installing it right (sleeve cover still on and door wide open so it was essentially only cooling the warm air that was continuously coming in from the outside and not doing a damn thing about all the humidity).

Infact I can't be too mad cuz I am busy doing a face palm move over the stupidity (see pic)  DOH!!!

But at least I have one. Now I just need someone to move back the TV unit. They didn't do that Tongue
