I saw the doctor yesterday so now the plan is to start on imuran as well as staying on prednisone at 20 or 15mg until it takes full effect. Hopefully this works, though I'll have to do blood tests every week. Bah.
It's very weird since my first time with this illness was a lot worse but a lower dose of prednisone took care of it. The human body is just so weird eh?

Yeah the Prednisone part could be how your adrenal glands are dealing with it. As for the Imuran, wow you seem to be on a lot of meds I used to be on I used to be on Imuran and Prednisone as you know already At least Imuran doesn't have the side effects that Prednisone does.

Yeah but at least you have a good reason for being on them, my immune system is just being a -censored-. Yeah .. that sucks .. So they are intentionally TRYING to SUPPRESS your immune system? Is that their intention? Because I know that Prednisone has many uses besides that. I don't know what else Imuran would be used for other than that however as that was my only experience with it. I know more about the various things that Prednisone can be used for only because my dad was on it and never had any organ transplants. He was actually on it for inflammation of his rare type of arthritis called " Stills Disease" (Hmm.. what do ya know? It seems that Imuran is used for that as well! Interesting..)

Ah okay that makes sense then. Immune system.

Wow I feel for you Kev. Man .. having an AutoImmune disorder DOES REALLY SUCK from what I hear from members of my medical forums who have that. Theirs have eventually attacked the kidneys but they had a different type. Guess it could always be worse .. but the pain .. makes it hard to look at the bright side. So are you finding you get sick more, especially in winter time? Are you gaining weight from the Prednisone since you now have been on it awhile? How much are you taking of these meds? Short Term Side Effects are different than Long Term Side Effects. http://www.drugs.com/sfx/prednisone-side-effects.htmlhttp://www.drugs.com/mtm/imuran.htmlhttp://www.rxlist.com/imuran-drug.htm

Probably not with why he is taking it .. but it might be helping him have an appetite .. so it was just a question.

Nah, my appetite is fine. Unlike my first bout with this the pain is not on 24/7 so I can actually be hungry at times. My weight is stable at around 165 pounds.
The only side effect prednisone has given me is some acne on my forehead and scalp, not that bad though.

Yeah I hate the acne part as well. Only thing you can do is wash (don't need special soap) more often than normal because it increases the production of oil sadly. Some people get hairy too..
